Alexa -

Ok, I know this comment is WAY late, but I just found your blog through Aaron's post. I've been WAITING for him to announce his famous Hiring in a 2.0 World hire and here you are!

Regarding the fail-whale episode in this post, I SO understand and assume you've finally managed to get past it by now since it's a few weeks later. That being said, I have the exact same problem and some nights never actually sleep because I'm SO afraid of oversleeping - due to many episodes of this kind of thing! I'm equally hard on myself and will take your "moving on" advice to heart :-)

Good luck with all the excitement (BBQ's) at Mzinga and I look forward to reading more of your work!

I wouldn't sweat it. All you have to do is stroke Barry's ego a little as well as work hard and all will be forgiven.

Alexa,

I had a similar situation once when I was working remotely. I misunderstood my boss's expectations of me for a project I was working on. I delivered it late which held her up and caused her to miss a very important meeting that she was to attend on our chairmans part. I dreaded going into the office to face her, but we talked about the situation and how to prevent it in the future.

Mistakes happen and the advice you were given is true. You can't dwell on it. If you've already talked about it, there is nothing more you can do but move on and make steps to prevent the situation the next time.

I am sure I could have done the exact same thing you did. As I am not a morning person and I often missed a Friday 7:30a.m. statistics course through the same means. This is why I leave my husband in charge of the alarm clock.
