Despite how “generation fail” and other labels anger me, it never ceases to amuse me, too.

It’s the media who is dumb. This generation being internet savey, hopefully will take the power BACK from the media. Obama win could be one of the proof.

@Paul – It’s cool that you’re such a cheerleader of new media. Very few non “dumb” generationers actually get it.

@Jess – I think you hit the nail on the head. It’s all about change. People can say, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,” but what about having the chance to do something *better*? The technology we’re afforded today allows us to do things differently, and sometimes, different = better. It’s too early to tell where all of this is headed, but it’s certainly not going to go back to the way things were. Had no idea you work in e-learning. That’s awesome. I used to work in higher education and your industry is definitely something I’m interested in.

I think there is *some* truth to the fact that our generation may not be as intellectually stimulated (or is, rather, intellectually OVER stimulated, and therefore at meltdown) but I think calling us the “dumbest generation” is a bunch of crap. I do think that it’s much easier to find information and process it rather than learning it (if that makes sense) due to the technology available to us…but that doesn’t make us DUMB.

I work in eLearning, and really, the way people learn is CHANGING. On the job training is different–hell, even college is different now from when I was getting my undergrad, and I only graduated 7 years ago. The only epic fail is going to be if the older generations don’t embrace and try to understand the way things have become. If not, they’re going to get left behind.

Weird vibe – I read this in USA Today by chance: http://is.gd/jNv which is similar by the sound of it. I’m too old to be considered this ‘dumb’ generation (gee, phew!) but I totally resent it on your behalf. You guys on Twitter, Facebook and the rest are blazing a trail. You don’t need anyone to tell you you’re not dumb, so just enjoy yourselves! You’ll have the last laugh.
